After taking a couple months off from blogging, I'm giving it another go.
Quick update: No animals now, just garden and foraging and hunting. In the garden, my daughter and I have planted some greens, but they aren't looking good (we had quite a cold snap for California, but only 3 hours of rain in the past 50 days). We will probably re-plant in February: beets, broccoli, rutabagas, collard greens. We'll also plant some potatoes in our successful bamboo windowblind potato patch.
Also, I hope to take on some larger tasks: Building a smoker, maybe even an outdoor bread oven, and some general yard improvements. I also hope to keep this site regular, including updating the "in-season" section. And look for a how-to on nettle cooking, too! We still need the video to accompany our picking vid.

I'd be really interested in a design for an outdoor bread oven. Now that I have sold the house and am about to treat the family to a long camping holiday by the sea while we build the new place, any oven I have will have to be outdoors!
the latest issue of Grit magazine has a design plan, and it might be up on their website: http://www.grit.com/
Also, this site has some interesting plans, although the site is weirdly built:
